Disney Cruise Line is currently seeking Island Lifeguards to work on our private island, Castaway Cay!
Castaway Cay, Disney's private island, is located in the Abaco chain of islands in the Bahamas, approximately 225 miles from Port Canaveral and 60 miles north of Nassau. Situated in this tropical setting, Castaway Cay features a variety of amazing recreational activities and relaxing experiences that are often the highlight for guests on our Bahamian and Caribbean voyages.
Working in a remote location is a unique experience. It is a fast-paced environment, and it takes daily preparation and teamwork to keep the island in excellent condition for guests. Living here, crew members share small living quarters and have access to exciting activities.
Responsibilities:
Lifeguards work at multiple stations 300 feet apart on Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. Cleans/rents equipment—bikes, snorkel masks, boats and floats. Repairs equipment when needed (bikes, boats, etc). Periodically checks and repairs predator nets in the lagoon. Assists with island activities. Cleans and oversees beach/boat lagoon. Occasionally works onboard the ship for short periods at a time. When working onboard the ship, monitors children/family pools and waterslides/AquaDuck, as well as all onboard recreational areas while ensuring safety of all guests and enforcing rules. Actively supports Port Adventures (shore excursions) operation. This role has high guest interaction.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum two years recent work experience in a lifeguard capacity, in a pool setting; high volume environment. At least one year MUST be in an outdoor, open-water setting such as a beach or lake.
• Ability to pass a pre-hire swim test and successfully complete lifeguard training (conducted upon arrival in Orlando, Florida); certification requirements must also be maintained throughout contract
• High level of fitness including strong swimming abilities
• Good computer skills and operational knowledge
• Be at least 21 years of age
Be able to speak, read and write fluent English
